Biography
Sam V. Thomas, D.O. brings dedication and compassion to his role as a board-certified pulmonologist. In his current position as a pulmonologist and pulmonary intensivist, he sees adults in his office and the hospital to evaluate and improve their lung function. Dr. Thomas offers expertise in diagnosing and treating various conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary vascular disease, and obstructive sleep apnea. In the intensive care unit (ICU), he treats patients for a wide range of critical conditions to support their recovery. Dr. Thomas holds a deep-rooted connection to the tristate area as someone raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Dr. Thomas completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University before pursuing medical school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, AL, where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Jefferson Health New Jersey in Stratford, where he served as chief intern, followed by a pulmonary/critical care fellowship at Jefferson Health NJ in Washington Township.
Dr. Thomas is excited to contribute to the healthcare of the Delaware and northern Maryland communities as a member of the ChristianaCare team. He is currently a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Thoracic Society. Outside of medicine, Dr. Thomas enjoys cooking, photography, and traveling with his wife, always eager to explore new destinations.
