When every second counts!

ChristianaCare Union Hospital is a designated Primary Stroke Center, a designation given by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS). We are among 35 Maryland hospitals to receive this designation. This designation demonstrates our commitment to meet the emergent needs of stroke patients through high-quality care and clinical excellence delivered by a comprehensive team of health care providers.

The Hospital earned MIEMMS recognition by demonstrating through an extensive application process and on-site visit that we have measures in place that allow for a more streamlined approach to caring for stroke patients. We have a multidisciplinary Stroke Team including, the emergency department, imaging, information services, laboratory, nursing, and pharmacy who follow best practice guidelines, which ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency for all of our patients.
